why You Should go to Ecuador

Published: December 20, 2018

With so many other interesting destinations the world has to offer, you might be wondering why would Ecuador be one of the place I travel to. Places like New York, Tokyo, and Dubia all rival Ecuador, and seem like  a better option.

But Ecuador does have it perks and here they are:

1. THE money you WON'T SPEND

To clarify, Ecuador's currency is the U.S. dollar

With that stated, you can go to Ecuador with a small budget and still do a lot.  A good tip I have discovered when traveling Ecuador is to carry small bills. Apparently it will difficult to find places that will break a $20.

Housing- You can find a decent place to stay at around 15 USD a night. This is for private hotel rooms. Dorm hotel room will be around 8 USD a night. Many hotel offer free breakfast and wifi is standard. You can check what deals there are for hotel room through Hotellook. Compare that with the average cost of a hotel room in New York ( 280 USD). For that kind of money you could stay for in Ecuador two weeks in a $15 per night hotel .

Transportation- Ecuador's bus fare is $0.25! Before I learned this I thought the only thing you could buy for a quarter is a gumball. Now this is for inner city travels. To travel from city to city that will be around 3-7 USD.For a rental car, the price for one day of use is around 60 USD. Taxi fares range from 3-5 USD

Attractions-  Ecuador many activities are accessible at a low price. To enter many of Ecuador museums and churches are just a couple of dollars ( 2-3 USD). To hitch a ride on the Teleferico( Quito's tram car) is only 7. 50 USD.

Food- A good meal is something you would expect to be expensive, but that's not how it works in Ecuador. Usually most meal that come with meat or chicken and a couple sides ( such as rice, fries, potatoes, etc) are around 3USD. Street food cost around 1 USD. Examples would be empanadas or pizza. Now, dinner is a bit more costly. The price is around 5- 10 USD and this includes an appetizer and entrée. Now be wary that are known tourist spots because those spots may have higher prices than mentioned before. Also if you go to the markets you could fill up on food for a week with just a $10 dollar bill.

2. THE ADVENTURES YOU'LL HAVE

Ecuador has a plethora of activities you can do. Some pumps up you're adrenaline while others help you relax. Regardless of whatever activities you like you will find it in Ecuador

Here is a list of some of the activities in Ecuador.

  • Kayaking

  • Spas

  • Tours of the jungles, mountains, and cities

  • Bike riding

  • Parks

  • Museums

  • Swimming

  • Dining

  • Horse-back riding

  • Ziplining

This just a broad list of what Ecuador offers in terms of adventure. The best part is that each city has different activities you can do it.

3.How different it is

Many travel to experience something different than there regular everyday lives. Traveling to Ecuador can get you that experience. There are not many places where you can eat fried guinea pig or climb a 19,000 foot mountain. Ecuador's way of life and culture is different from so many iconic travel destinations. Plus, how many people do you know can say they have traveled to Ecuador
